My favourite book… I’m not sure. I’d have to say a book that I have read more than once which, I have to say, is a very short list indeed!

My favourite scientific book is “Relativity visualised” – it is a series of drawings intended to explain how the theory of relativity works. It is conceptually rich, but the drawings really help.

My favourite work of fiction? I couldnt’ say. George Orwell’s 1984 made me cry when I first read it – it is a very emotional tale, and is one with ever more relevance in our surveillance society. I could say the same about Lord of the Flies by William Golding. It’s a bit like 1984 I guess – a cautionary tale.

I couldn’t let this list go by without recommending The Princess Bride by William Goldman (yes, very similar name) – a lovely tale, plenty of humour, and with a film adaptation which subtly changes the book to adapt it better for film and is equal to the book – and it doesn’t matter which one you experience first!

I have always loved PS I Love You and Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern. Both absolutely heart wrenching but equally hilarious. I also loved Animal Farm by George Orwell and my favourite science book is Kitchen Science Lab by Liz Heinecke. It’s got some awesome and simple experiments in it!

That would be Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone for me. It started me on the Harry Potter series + it introduced me to the realm of fantasy apart from the fact that it was greatly written.
