That’s quite a scary thought – while the odd thing has not gone as well as I would like, given that I’m happy where I have ended up I don’t think I could honestly ‘undo’ any one aspect and still be where I am today! I am where I am because of things I have done – consequently I wouldn’t want to ‘undo’ anything!

Well, this is a very tricky question, and I believe that if I had to undo one event it would have changed my whole scientific career up till now.
Having said that I am still utterly disappointed that I was advised not to do a double honours degree in Maths and Chemistry, so if I had to do something differently it would be the whole of my undergraduate course, changing it to BSc (Hons) Chemistry and Maths.

I think I’ve been fairly happy with my progress in my career so far, I love my current project and I think I’m on track for being able to get the future jobs I want to after that. However, there are weeks trying to fix problems that I wish I could just go back and tell myself the answers too so I didn’t waste loads of time! That would definitely make me a lot more productive as a scientist.

I’ve been pretty lucky and already achieved my 2 dreams of working with Martyn Poliakoff and meeting my chemistry idol, Paul Anastas. So I couldn’t change anything that would lead me to that! I would perhaps have started writing up my thesis as I went along though as it seems a pretty scary task to sit down and do it now!!!

I don’t think I would undo any event – I am very happy to have made my decisions, which obviously would be very different if they were based on different previous events.
