I work in a lab with 3 other people and we really get on. My work mates and I have become very close friends over the years as we spend all day, every day with each other! It would be really tough if you didn’t get on with the people you work with, but there are always coffee breaks and lunch that you could escape!

Occasionally – on a different note, I should mention I met my husband at work (we shared office, hard to miss!)

I wish I can say I get a long with everyone I work with but that is quite difficult when you have a large group of people. I am part of a cohort which is made up of 13 people, while I work in lab with 7 different people.

I tend to get along really well with most of them, but although I can work brilliantly with everyone there are a number of people with whom I would not want to spend saturday night at the pub

I have a great research group and we’re all very good friends. Pub on a Friday night after our group meetings is a common occurrence and we often meet up outside of work to hang out as well.

You definitely get some people with very big egos in science (mostly because we spend most of our time trying to find the flaws in other people’s work and you have to develop a thick skin to deal with that) but I’m very lucky where I work as everyone is very passionate about the work and supportive of the rest of the group.
