Question: Do you believe there could be a zombie apocalypse. And do you know any zombie pandemics.

Well, the possibility of this happening is there, but this is very minimal. When looking at insects, there are a number of parasites that take control of their body, but it almost always ends up in the insect being killed after the aprasite would have used its body to lay its eggs.
When it comes to humans this is more difficult, and a zombie apocalypse would be totally different then what you see in movies. Probably it would be some sort of virus that effects the brain, making it lose all of the memories and feelings while still leaving the body fully functional.

I guess a scenario like the one in ‘The Last of Us’ with a mind-control parasite is probably more feasible than the traditional, rotting corpse style zombies. I don’t think there’s currently anything we know about that could cause a widespread outbreak in humans like a zombie apocalypse.

As the others have said, there’s nothing that we know of at the moment that would cause it, but this isn’t to say it won’t happen! I’ve watched a few too many zombie films in my life so am pretty terrified of them! My boyfriend and I do have an escape plan for a zombie attack though just to be safe.

I’m not sure about the “living dead”; though there are some reports in the animal kingdom of parasites which, when they infect a host, can consume it and hijack its body (not quite ‘zombies’ as the animal isn’t dead, but certainly a ‘body snatcher’!) There are no known human instances of this, but never say never!

The closest thing to a zombie apocalypse that could happen now would be if a strand of rabies mutated and became airborne. People who were infected would suffer from a rotting brain, they wouldslowly lose all control over their body

That are working hypnotism theories that work via nano bots entering the brain. Something similar to The Walking Dead is possible where anything that had a working brain could get infected, and anything infected could ‘turn’ after death.
