Being in this competition helps us meet new people – and future research relies on meeting new people and being able to put your ideas together and come up with something new!

Frequently we all go to conferences, to hear people talk about their work and to share ideas through “networking” sessions, but I think it’s probably true to say that the most work actually happens over dinner and in more social settings! It’s when you can talk to people informally, and start to explore absurd ideas, that the most interesting experiments start to be proposed!

Any interaction with other scientists will help my future research, either due to possibility of making new interactions with other scientists or even by having ideas after reading people’s profile, and maybe create some kind of collaboration.

I am of the opinion that the best science is done in a pub, rather then in a meeting room at university. I personally had a number of interesting conversations over a glass of wine with some of my old colleagues, and the results we achieved afterwards were impressive.
